MLP FiM: Winter Wrap Up Twilight by sugarstitch MLP FiM: Winter Wrap Up Twilight by sugarstitch
Character: Twilight Sparkle (My Little Pony)
Materials: Minky.
Size: Approx. 14" to the top of her head and 17" tall to the top of her horn.

Twilight's all ready to wrap up winter!

I've got to say, Twilight has been the most fun plush to make in a long time, so thank you so much to the commissioner! I am ridiculously happy with how she turned out, and she's the first full sized mare I've made in a long time (I'm fairly embarrassed by the only other two I've done >.<) I especially love her bangs! Poor Twilight often gets flat, deflated bangs. They were tricky though.

Anyway, Twilight is made from Lavender, Royal Blue, Fuchsia and Purple minky, and her outfit is made from minky as well. Her scarf has embroidery floss tassles, and her whole outfit is removable. She has machine embroidered eyes and Cutie Marks, and satin stitch details.

Twilight is a commission and is not for sale.
Twilight and My Little Pony belong to Lauren Faust and Hasbro.
Plush is by me.

Thank you :aww:
I use an embroidery machine for details like eyes. It's not difficult as such, just a bit time consuming since I digitize all my own designs. Once you've got your design though, the machine does it for you. I just have to switch thread colours.

I love her bangs, the curve is awesome!  I could never get hers to look like that, it always wanted to look flat.

My goodness I love those bangs! Poofy and full, as they ought to be. When you open for commissions I may have to look into snagging a Twilight from you :)

Could I ask if her boots were hard to make? I've never made boots and I'll be making my first soon ^_^

Boots and simple shirts are easy!  Just like she said, you can use your existing body pattern and just enlarge it slightly so it fits over your pony.  I usually add about a seam allowance worth of extra.

Yup!  It's much harder to make anything that doesn't conform to the pony's body, like a dress.  It's actually relatively fun to make shirts :).

They're not hard at all! I just used my mare leg pattern. For the sides you just trace an outline of the bottom of the leg to however high up you need it (make it a bit bigger to allow for the hoof to get in) and for the sole just use your hoof bottom and again make it a bit bigger. Then you just line it.
